This module explores the theory & practice of environmental politics in issues of Sustainable Development. Drawing on concepts from Politics & International Relations we will critically analyze past & current environmental challenges and discourses. The module pays particular attention to the political actors involved in contemporary Sustainable Development issues, to their interests and behaviours. It includes a comparative political analysis element as well as a global environmental governance dimension. Distinct features of this module are - the use of policy briefings as written assignments, tutorial discussion papers, as well as a practitioner involvement.

Pre-requisite(s): Before taking this module you must ( pass SD2001 and pass SD2002 ) or ( pass IR2005 and pass IR2006 )

Anti-requisite(s): You cannot take this module if you take IR4552
