This module introduces students to the study of cinema as a mode of representation of social history by offering a social overview of cinema in Iran since the 1960s. Looking at films as a mirror reflecting the society, this module will offer a chronological history of Iranian cinema while also addressing changes in Iranian society. Students will be given a reading list to complement the lectures, the contents of which will provide a basis for seminar discussions. There will be one film screening per week accompanying the lectures and students will be encouraged to develop their own critical approach through seminars and discussions.
