MT4537   Spatial Processes

Academic year(s): 2015-2016

Key information

SCOTCAT credits : 15

ECTS credits : 7

Level : SCQF level 10

Semester: 2

Planned timetable: TBC

This module will study probabilistic and inferential problems for spatial processes. It commences with a discussion on different types of spatial data. In the context of spatial point processes functional and non-functional summary characteristics for point patterns are considered. Spatial point process models, including homogeneous and inhomogeneous Poisson processes as well as Gives processes and Cox processes along with the approaches to parameter estimation and model evaluation, are introduced. Models in geostatistics based on empirical variograms and kirging approaches and spatial models for lattice data (CAR model, Gauss Markov random fields) are also discussed.
