This hands-on, practical, source-based module is designed to equip the student to tackle the reading, transcription and editing of manuscripts up to c.1500. Primarily a practical skills course, class time will concentrate primarily on the actual reading of manuscripts and necessary codicological work, with (e.g.) editing skills being introduced within the context of transcription assignments. Efforts will be made to include work with original sources from the Library's collections, which are of relevance to special subjects and/or dissertation.
