IT4098   Dissertation on an Italian Topic

The dissertation offers students the possibility of personal advanced study on an Italian topic on which they already have adequate basic knowledge and for which a suitable Supervisor can be found. Guidance will be offered on research methods and on presentation. The Dissertation can be either a) a study of a given body of primary material in a given perspective, or b) a critical review of a range of secondary material on a given subject. It should be no more than 5,000 words in length, be submitted in accordance with guidelines and deadlines, and normally be written in English. The topic must be formally agreed in advance with the potential supervisor and the Head of the Italian Department. Agreement is subject to appropriate supervision arrangements, suitability of topic and sufficient prior knowledge. Relationship to other modules

Pre-requisite(s): This prerequisite may be replaced by the equivalent study abroad. Before taking this module you must pass IT3002. In taking this module, you cannot take a 30-credit dissertation in another subject within the School of Modern Languages.

Anti-requisite(s): In taking this module you cannot take IT4097 or take IT4099 or a 30-credit dissertation in another subject within the school of modern languages. . This module is compatible with obligatory 30-credit dissertation modules taken outside the school of modern languages.
