IT1001   Introduction to Italian Language

Planned timetable: 3 language classes and 1 culture seminar normally meeting at 10.00 am or 11.00 am, or 12.00 noon Monday-Thursday

This module is the normal entry point which leads to Honours Italian for beginners in Italian. It is designed for students with no prior experience of Italian and does not assume any knowledge of the language. The course is intensive and proceeds quickly. It concentrates on grammar and usage through reading, writing, listening and speaking. Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) materials are also used to supplement classes and assessments. It also introduces students to aspects of Italian culture and history. Please note that this module is not designed for students with an advanced knowledge of Italian

Anti-requisite(s): Student should not have a pass at Higher, A-Level or equivalent in Italian or have an advanced knowledge of Italian.

Weekly contact: 3 language classes and 1 seminar on aspects of Italian history and culture per week
