This module aims to introduce students to the ways in which great powers, regional powers and regional non-state actors have used propaganda and strategic communications to advance their interests in the Middle East region. The focus will be on events since the turn of the millennium, but the module will go back to the mid-twentieth century to discuss the development of regional media and propaganda. The module will also focus on teaching students to critically analyse specific media and propaganda texts.
