This module provides an introduction to key theoretical and methodological approaches which have characterised the emergence of History as a discipline since mediaeval times. It covers a number of influential historical schools and perspectives, which are taught thematically with reference to the mediaeval, early modern and late modern periods. The module builds on knowledge acquired by students during their first three semesters of study and equips them with the skills to undertake honours work in History.
