GM2013 Mediaeval German Language and Literature

The module introduces students to Middle High German language and literature. Students will learn to read the mediaeval form of the language. They will also gain an overview of the flourishing German literature of the Middle Ages in its rich cultural context of chivalry, heroism and Christianity, focussing on key texts.

Optional for all degrees involving German. 40 credits in 2000-level German is compulsory for all German degrees, and 60 credits are strongly recommended for most degrees. See programme requirements
