GD5100   Contextualising the Contemporary

Academic year(s): 2018-2019

Key information

SCOTCAT credits : 30

ECTS credits : 15

Level : SCQF level 11

Semester: 1

Planned timetable: To be arranged

The module focuses on a single subject (for example temporality, identity, climate change, globalisation) defined as contemporary by three different academic disciplines, including at least one Arts discipline and one Social Science or Science discipline. Students will thus explore the subject from three very different perspectives, allowing them to develop a more complex and flexible approach to problem solving and analysis, to identify the potential strengths and weaknesses of individual disciplines, and gain an ability to communicate across disciplinary boundaries. Intercalated sessions will be led by the module coordinator (or her/his delegate), during which students will synthesise skills and knowledge acquired, ensuring continuity, cohesion and collective reflection on the part of the cohort.
