This module forms the introduction to methodologies and training in applied environmental reconstruction techniques. It will provide first-hand experience in field examination of geotechnical, environmental and industrial sites in the UK and the methodologies used to solve geo-environmental problems. The module enables hands-on training in using coring tools, hydrological sampling methods, onshore to nearshore marine geophysical surveying (seismic refraction, magnetometry, electrical and electromagnetic methods for land surveys; bathymetric sidescan, acoustic ground discrimination, sub-bottom profiling for lacustrine and marine surveys) and remote sensing applications.
