The aim of the module is to enable students to examine the cultures of literature and literary production. It ranges from the ‘Ossian phenomenon’ and related debates in the later eighteenth century, through to considering aspects of Victorian literary culture in poetry and prose of the period. Some consideration is given to literature in a global context.
