The module considers a range of essential topics in poetry and its composition, including the creative process, sound and sentence, the poetic line, imagery, metaphor, metre and meaning.

Learning and teaching methods and delivery

Weekly contact: 2 hour seminar and 2 hour practical class (x 10 weeks); tutorials by appointment

Assessment pattern

As used by St Andrews: Coursework = 100%

Re-assessment: One new submission equivalent in length and nature to the failed piece of coursework. The piece submitted for reassessment must be entirely new work.
