This module introduces students to the late-mediaeval literature of pre-Reformation Scotland. A representative selection of Older Scots works from the fifteenth and earlier sixteenth centuries will be studied in the context of development in the language, literary culture and political climate of the period before the cultural watershed of the Reformation. Writers studied will include Henryson, Dunbar, Douglas and Lyndsay as well as some of their anonymous contemporaries. (Group A)
