This module will examine and evaluate the concept of the 'person' as used to describe first, the nature of God and the Trinity and, second, the nature of human beings. In doing this it will seek to integrate exegetical, metaphysical and theological analysis and critique. In addition to an assessment of the interpretations of divine personhood and the imago dei in the biblical material and the theological tradition, the course will consider: i) metaphysical issues associated with the concept of identity; ii) the implications of the dualist-physicalist debate; iii) the nature of human relations; and, iv) questions of human uniqueness and purposiveness.

Re-assessment: Where a student fails the assessment for a taught module, one or more such components of coursework originally graded at less than 7 may be revised and resubmitted. The weighted-mean grade for reassessed components will be added to the weighted-mean grade for original (i.e first) submission-components. This new overall grade will be capped at 7.
