This module is designed to examine theories of development and of care and counselling from the perspective of theology, and to reflect on their application to human crisis, transition and illness. Students will consider current models in pastoral care; responses to crises; death, dying and grief; bereavement, mourning and suicide; mental illness (eg depression); family systems theory; and substance abuse. Students will visit local mental health facilities and hospice/palliative care agencies.
