This module situates and interrogates the discipline of Comparative Literature, exploring a range of theories and practices which complement those covered in CO3001. Key areas will be drawn from: influence and reception; world literature; translation studies; adaptation studies; digital humanities; ways of reading. Comparative Literature will typically also be discussed in relation to fields such as postcolonialism, areas studies, cultural studies and interdisciplinarity. Students will be encouraged to formulate their own disciplinary definitions.
