RU2202   Intermediate Russian Language 2

Planned timetable: 10.00 am plus 1 oral hour to be arranged.

This module follows RU2201. It is the language track at second level for students who took the beginners' modules (RU1001 and RU1002) at first level. The module completes the introduction of intermediate Russian grammar. The ability to translate from Russian into English will be developed in specific translation seminars. Materials for translation align with the topics covered in audio-visual and oral classes. Audio-visual/writing classes are designed to improve listening comprehension and writing fluency in the language. Oral skills are developed with a native speaker in small-group oral classes.

  • Speak, understand, read, and write Russian with a degree of fluency compatible with an intermediate level of study.
  • Demonstrate an ability to translate texts from Russian into English
  • Further your understanding and production of spoken and written Russian, ensuring a solid core of Russian vocabulary so as to be ready to enter honours.
  • Develop independent research skills relevant to language study (using library and online resources).
