ECTS credits : 15
Level : SCQF level 11
Semester: 1
Planned timetable:
This module constitutes the first of two modules that introduce the student to the essential grammar, morphology, and vocabulary of the Koine Greek of the New Testament. The module introduces the alphabet, and then leads the student through both the noun system and the verb system. The result is that the student will have a foundational knowledge and understanding in preparation for Koine Greek 2, which will cover intermediate grammar and begin intensive reading of Koine texts. The student will then be able to progress to more advanced studies of the language with the ability to read and analyse texts such as LXX and the New Testament, as well as other Koine literature. This module therefore provides the student with a foundational understanding of the most important tool needed for exegesis of Koine texts, as well as a base from which to approach contemporary academic texts that seek to interpret this same literature.
