This module provides an introduction to colonial and postcolonial medicine in the Global South. It explores how medicine and public health become entangled with colonial and postcolonial systems of power and knowledge. Merging medical anthropological and medical historical perspectives, the module brings together a wide range of theoretical and empirical material that will allow students to approach how colonial and postcolonial medicine become interlinked in the contemporary world, and how different societies respond to this medical legacy.
