PR3020   Key Texts in Modern Persian Literature

Students will learn about key twentieth-century authors through reading biographies and critical writing in Persian and English. They will also read, translate and discuss at least one sample of writing by each of these authors. The module is primarily designed to expose students to modern poetry and short stories and to improve and broaden students' knowledge of literary analysis in general and Persian literature and culture in particular. Students will be required to translate Persian poetry and prose passages into English and analyse them. This module will also address the sociopolitical contexts in which these literary works were produced.
