This is a guided study module which allows students enrolled on Graduate School programmes to explore specific topics in greater depth than is possible on their other core or optional modules. The module offers students the opportunity to develop skills of research, analysis and presentation prior to the summer project/dissertation. As such it serves as a useful transition between more structured taught modules and the independence research of the postgraduate project/dissertation. Special Topics will be offered by selected staff from Schools across the University. Supervision is delivered via individual, or - in some cases - small group, tutorials. The project topic, programme of learning, and required reading will be finalised in consultation with the member of staff leading the directed reading.
