This module introduces students to the genre of the short story, focusing on a range of stories from at least three different national (and / or transnational, and / or world) literatures, drawn from the following language areas: Arabic; Persian; French; German: Italian; Spanish, English; Russian. All texts are available in English translation. The module will usually focus on 20th and 21st century texts, but may, depending on staff availability, cover a range of historical periods. Stories will typically cover a broad range, including, for instance, realism, science fiction, fantasy, documentary, etc.
