This 20 credit module provides a survey of painting, sculpture and architecture in Italy and northern Europe from c. 1280 to c.1580. It traces a chronological development through the work of major personalities from Giotto at the beginning of the fourteenth century, to Durer, Michelangelo and Titian in the sixteenth century. Attention will also be paid to the issues relating to the wider artistic situation of the Late Gothic and Renaissance periods, including those of patronage, iconography, technique and types of commission.
