This module offers students a thorough grounding in the bibliographical skills required to study Renaissance literature (with an introduction to electronic resources), in tandem with an investigation of contemporary readings of the textual culture of the period. Themes for discussion may include: the relationship between manuscript, orality and print in the early modern period; theories of authorship; the relationship between performance and playtext in the Renaissance theatre; editorial theory.
