Key information

SCOTCAT credits : 20

ECTS credits : 10

Level : SCQF level 11

Semester: 2

Planned timetable: To be arranged.

This module provides a forum for students to develop, present, and write on a particular field or topic, drawing on methodological ideas from Semester 1 modules. Students will receive further guidance on the preparation and presentation (oral and written) of a research subject. They will then conduct research in that field, based as appropriate on primary and secondary sources. Presentations to the whole class will provide not just feedback on the particular topic, but a forum for an exploration of the possibilities of comparison within legal history. The module also provides preparation for the writing of dissertations; the research topic may lead into, but must be distinct from, that of the dissertation.
