This module examines the development of the Reformation as a European movement in the period of 1555. The central question addressed is why, having made such an impact on Germany, the Reformation made only sporadic progress elsewhere. Cases studied include France, England, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. The second half of the course explores the different media of conversion through which the evangelical message was communicated.
