Rules for searching

You can search the Course Catalogue for words or phrases that occur in the fields (Description, Module Code, Title etc). However, you must follow a few simple rules:

• Use only lower case unless you want your search to be case sensitive.
  If you search for Language, you'll only get courses which include that word
  with that exact capitalisation. If you search for language however,
  you'll get courses which include language, Language or any combination of upper
  and lower case letters.
  
  
• If you do wish to make case sensitive searches bear in mind the following:
  
  
  • Module Titles have an initial capital letter in most of their words
    (e.g. Old English Language)
  • the first two letters of the Module Code must be in UPPER CASE
  • most of the information in the Description field is in lower case

  You may have to experiment if you find that your searches are failing.
  
  

• If you want to search the Description field you can enter:
  
  
  • a single word, or
  • a phrase:
    
    • if you enter a phrase then take care with things like spacing between words:
      the search will fail if you put two or more spaces between words
      
      
• If you are searching for modules offered in a particular Year enter only the last two digits.

To search the Course Catalogue

• Choose a Subject and then choose the field to be searched.

• In the search for: box enter the text you want to search for.
  You can empty this box using the "Clear" button.

• Then click "Go".
